Our Pastor

King of Glory Lutheran Church
Our Pastor - Rev. Tim Philips

Greetings from the people of God at
King of Glory Lutheran Church!

The mission of our congregation is simple: Know Christ, Grow in Christ, and Go in Christ. These mission images guide us in doing ministry in a way that invites everyone into a life-giving relationship with God through Jesus Christ (know), gives many opportunities to deepen our faith in God (grow), and sends us into the worldto live as active agents of God’s love for the world in Christ (go).

You are welcome here! We are a neighborhood church with a big heart, an open mind, and outstretched arms. Come and see what God is doing in our midst. Worship with us, experience learning and spiritual growth opportunities with us, join us for times of fun and fellowship, and go with us to serve our community.

We are a congregation that is small enough to be very warm and personal, and yet we are blessed with such wonderfully gifted and generous people, that we can offer a little something for everyone. We look forward to seeing you at King of Glory!

In Christ’s Service,
Pastor Tim Philips

About Pastor Tim

Pastor Tim Philips is a native Californian. Born and raised in the small northern California community of Fort Bragg, he attended California Lutheran University graduating summa cum laude with a degree in Sociology in 1982. He then attended Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, California, graduating with a Master of Divinity Degree in 1987.

Pastor Tim served Trinity Lutheran in Hemet, California from 1987 until coming to King of Glory, on October 1, 1999. During the years of his service at Trinity, he was the Associate Pastor for 5 years and the Senior Pastor for 7 years, being called to the latter role at age 32. His ministry in Hemet was marked by the growth and expansion of Trinity’s ministry and campus, an emphasis on congregational outreach to those in need, and the establishment of a mission congregation (now Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church) to serve the residents of the growing west-side of the San Jacinto Valley.

Pastor Tim and his family reside in Huntington Beach. His wife Mimi teaches science at Marina High School. He has two daughters, Amanda and Elizabeth. Amanda is a graduate of Loyola Marymount University and lives and works in Berkeley, California. Lizzy (she prefers that to Liz) is a junior at the University of San Francisco.
